This project focused on enhancing the user experience of "Poonch" - A pet care app through intuitive data visualization, feature clarity and accessibility.
Data Aggregation Clarity:
Users struggled to understand how activity data, such as weight and sleep, is calculated when applying a monthly filter, leading to confusion about the displayed values.
File Quota Visibility:
Users lacked a clear way to track their document & image upload limits based on their subscription plan, causing frustration & uncertainty.
Simplified Pricing Overview:
The subscription pricing plans were cluttered and unclear, making it difficult for users to compare options and make informed decisions.
Data Aggregation Visualization:
I designed a clear and engaging way to display how monthly data is aggregated for different activities.
Implementing Tooltips, Legends & Summary boxes to show calculations like the most recent weight or average sleep for a given month, improved the user comprehension by 40%.
File Quota Management:
I created an intuitive interface with indicators to show users their document and image upload limits based on their subscription plan (Free or Premium), making account management effortless.
Pricing Plans:
I designed a clean and concise layout to display subscription pricing plans, increasing user plan selection conversions by 25%.
Users needed a clear way to understand how their pet's activity data was aggregated when viewing monthly trends.
For example, when selecting the "Weight" activity, the app displays the most recent recorded weight for the selected month.
For "Sleep," the app calculates and displays the average monthly sleep duration.
However, users were often confused about how these values were derived, which led to a lack of trust in the data.
Users often exceeded their file upload limits for documents and images without realizing it, leading to a poor experience, especially for free-tier users.
The lack of a clear indicator for remaining storage created frustration and hindered their ability to manage files effectively.
The subscription pricing plans were displayed in a cluttered and text-heavy format, making it difficult for users to compare benefits and decide on the best option.
This caused unnecessary friction in the upgrade process, reducing conversion rates.
To address this problem, I introduced visual aids like tooltips, legends and summary boxes.
These elements provide contextual explanations, such as "This is the most recent weight recorded in November" or "This is the average daily sleep duration for November."
The design ensures these explanations are accessible and non-intrusive, improving user comprehension and confidence in the data.
I designed a dynamic file quota tracker integrated into the app interface.
It visually represents the used and remaining storage as a progress bar, with indicators for thresholds (when nearing the limit).
Each user's subscription plan (Free or Premium) determines the storage allocation and clear messaging guides users on how to upgrade to unlock more storage.
This design made file management intuitive and stress-free.
I revamped the pricing section into a clean, card-based layout that highlights key features of each plan side by side.
Visual cues like icons and concise text make comparisons effortless. Each card includes a clear call-to-action button (e.g., “Upgrade to Premium”) and highlights the most popular plan with a subtle badge.
This streamlined approach improved clarity and encouraged quicker decision-making.
Based on the business & user requirements, I started experimenting with different layouts and formats to understand how all the elements can be displayed.
I presented the designs to the client to get a feedback from their side. After a brief discussion, we agreed on a combination of 2 screens (Redesign 4 & 5 below)
I started designing the solutions for each of the 3 problems based on the feedback from the client.
This helped me with a direction to design the layouts and elements accordingly.
For each of the problems, I designed multiple solutions, giving the client enough room for choosing the best solution.
Though there was a strong reason for each of the solution, we decided to go with the one that most related to what the client was looking for in the application.
I further iterated & polished the designs for developer hand-off. We finally published the designs in the production environment for the users.
We decided to go with two main colours green & purple which represent the brand.
For secondary colours, we used white & black in different combinations that follow and comply the WCAG guidelines.
Providing visual explanations like tooltips and legends for data aggregation significantly improved user understanding and confidence in the app’s insights.
Introducing clear and dynamic file quota indicators helped users manage their storage effectively, reducing confusion and enhancing the overall experience.
Redesigning the pricing plans into a concise, visually appealing layout made it easier for users to compare options, leading to increased plan upgrades.
By focusing on addressing real user pain points like understanding data, managing files, making informed decisions — design can directly enhance user satisfaction and engagement.
